Empowering Lives: Our tightly knit community of sickle cell disease member organizations provides unparalleled support, guiding individuals with sickle cell disease, caregivers and stakeholders toward a brighter future.
SCDAA has 50+ member organizations that serve the sickle cell community with direct services, advocacy and awareness programs. We value the work of our community-based organizations, and we work collaboratively across the country to affect positive change at the national, state and local levels.
With educational workshops, awareness campaigns and advocacy, SCDAA and its member organizations aren’t just talking about change – we’re making it happen.
We’re not just dreaming; we’re championing research that’s changing lives and getting us closer to a universal cure.
SCDAA actively promotes basic and translational research. Basic research is the foundational exploration of the fundamental elements underlying sickle cell disease. It’s about understanding the intricacies of the disease at a molecular and cellular level. Translational research, on the other hand, bridges the gap between these foundational insights and their practical application in clinical settings. It’s the crucial link transforming scientific knowledge into tangible advancements for patients. In both of these areas, significant and exciting progress is being made and have led us to recent historic – and expensive – breakthroughs.
